Dr. Achilles Kalnoky is relatively new to Sarasota. He was born in Prague, Czech Republic to a Greek mother and Hungarian father and when he was young his family emigrated to the United States settling in New Jersey. His love of travel and adventure brought him back to Prague after high school for medical school. Upon completion of his medical studies he worked in the United Kingdom and later returned to the U.S. to complete a residency in Family Medicine at Central Michigan University in Saginaw, Michigan. Spending three long winters in Michigan convinced Dr. Kalnoky to join his parents in sunny Florida after graduation. But he did take one long detour, working as a family doctor in New Zealand before finally making Sarasota his new home. Dr. Kalnoky has been in Sarasota since 2013 working first with a clinic for the uninsured where he was also an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine with Florida State University Medical School. Most recently he has been practicing with Sarasota Memorial Hospital as an urgent care physician. As a Board Certified Family Medicine doctor he is excited to return to his true passion of full scope Family Medicine as he undertakes this next challenge in his career. Dr. Kalnoky lives with his wife Farah, a Physician Assistant at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and their three young children. In his spare time he enjoys the beautiful Florida beaches, travel, biking, tennis, kayaking and scuba diving. He is also a violinist with the Tampa Symphony performing with the orchestra throughout the year.
